23 Months (February/March 2015)

Still obsessed with dresses and shoes. Every morning she picks out her dress du jour and matching (sometimes not so matching) shoes.
The sparklier the more movement, the better.

Dayvia went to her very first dance class this month! I participated with her- it's a Mommy/Me class. She loved it. She followed the teachers instructions and did her first tendu. :)
I'm not sure what she loved more- the dancing or the pretty ballet dress!

This month was tough because she got the worst cold/flu she's ever had. Up until now, when she gets a cold- it's just the usual fever, runny nose, little cough. But this time- she was out of it. Lethargic and no appetite. High fever but no runny nose, just a bad cough. The cough got worse after a few days and one night we were laying in bed with her and she was wheezing. We called the pediatrician and they told us to go to the ER. So at 2am on friday night, we checked this little girl in. We were so worried and scared. They gave her a breathing treatment and that helped the wheezing immediately. The Dr diagnosed her with "possible" bronchitis or pneumonia and gave us a stack of prescriptions. An inhaler, antibiotics, steroids… I thought- this seems like a lot of medicine for a two year old. And treating "possible" stuff?? That doesn't make sense.
The next morning we went to the pediatrician and sure enough-- no pneumonia. no bronchitis. no ear infection. She had CROUP! A swelling of the voice box that causes a bad cough and wheezing. Luckily it was a mild case of croup so the treatment is just steam showers and walks outside in the cool air. It went away in a few days. Phew.
The learning lesson here-- when in doubt, go to the ER. But remember that ER doctors are NOT pediatricians. So if it isn't life threatening we will always wait to check with our pedi before giving any medication.

We ended the month with a fun visit from The Berkleys! Dayvia loves her Aunt Dee, Uncle Fofo, and Maddie SO SO MUCH.

Today she realized that farting is funny. And can now do it on purpose to make us laugh!

FAVORITE ACTIVITY
Getting cozy in bed, re-arranging all pillows and blankets until perfect, and reading and playing with dolls.

22 Months (January/February 2015)

Eek! I've dropped the ball on the blog! I didn't even realize I haven't posted in 3 months. Oops! Sorry followers! All… five of you….

I keep track of everything on my phone so that I don't forget- so I will get you caught up now!

Jan. 19th
Coming home and out of the car. Day reaches up to the sky saying, "moon, moon!" She is getting frustrated now and says, "ugh. can't reach it!"

21 Months (Dec/Jan)

This month has been so funny.

First- nap and bath are back!!!!!! Hallelujah. Thank you Lord.

We got an amazing tip from friends for bath time… candle lit baths! The tub is surrounded by flickering (fake) candles, and the meditation music plays softly. She loves it!!! After bath, we make our way to her room for bedtime routine with the lights low and by the time she's in her pi's she's begging to go to sleep.

It's a miracle!!

This month is also the naked month. You will see lots of pictures of her below without clothes. This is her choice. If she had it her way, she would be naked and shoe-less all day. To get her dressed to leave the house is a such process! Oy.

FAVORITE TOYS

Her favorite favorite toys, by far, are her figurine dolls and her doll house. She wakes up in the morning and runs to her dollhouse saying, "good morning toys!"

She plays with them for an hour- easily. Before breakfast, before water, before anything. 

And this play happens a few times a day. 

FUNNY STORIES

I call Mike "Babe"-- apparently, a lot, because she is now calling him "Babe" when she needs something!

"Babe?! Milk."  "Babe?! Where are you Babe?"

On Jan. 1st, she read her favorite nite nite book to me (Goodnight Gorilla) cover to cover, "reading" each page, and said "the end" as she closed the book.
