Fun Times
Dayvia Hope turns 5 Months Old (August 12th)
Dayvia is rolling and rolling and rolling. She rolls from back to tummy, and tummy to back. If she sees something she wants and can't reach it, she will roll a few times until she makes it to the object. We get quite a kick out of watching this rolly polly.
Along with rolling over- some of her other 5 month developments include:
-Communicating.
Davy has realized that she can "ask" to be picked up or fed. She can't say it in words yet- but instead of crying, she coughs. It almost sounds like she's saying "ahem". When she wakes up from a nap, or when she's done with playtime- she will look around for me and let out a few "ahem" "ahem". Hilarious.
-Tummy Sleeping.
All you moms who had babies before 1995 told me tummy sleeping was where it's at. But we fought it- we followed the rules and listened to our Pediatrician and went along with the "back to sleep" campaign. But in the end- when I finally put her on her tummy to sleep for the first time... she napped for 2 hours, so comfortably. Since then I've realized she likes her tummy so much more- even if I put her on her back she immediately rolls over. So she is now officially a tummy sleeper.
-Laughing, Babbling, Squawking...
She continues to experiment with her voice. My favorite is when she laughs really hard. It isn't a high pitch giggle, it's a very raspy deep laugh. I will try to post a video of it because it is just too funny!

Dayvia Is 4 Months Old
Here are some pictures from the last few weeks! This kid is growing!!!
At her 4 month check up she was 15lbs. 15oz. and 26.5inches long.
95th percentile for height, 90th percentile for weight.
She is squawking, squealing, laughing, mimicking, just really exploring her voice.
Her 4 month cognitive surge is in full effect which has made for a sleep regression (fun!) but I know it's just a stage. She wakes up in the middle of the night now just to practice rolling over. Good thing she's cute. :)

4th Of July
I realize it is now August-- forgive me for the late post!
Our neighborhood has an annual 4th of July block party. Food, music, games.. all organized and set up by the wonderful residents of Colfax Meadows. We signed in at the booth, made our donation, got our name tags, and it was all the hot dogs (turkey and veggie dogs too), snow cones, and pie we could eat. Our good friends/neighbors Brittany and Jeff met us there and the five of us walked around stuffing our faces and saying over and over again, "we love this neighborhood".
After the block party we went back to our house to go swimming. Dayvia's first time in the pool! We put her in her Independence day bathing suit (thanks Grandma Mary), and we heated the pool to 89 degrees. We were all very excited to see what her reaction would be, I was expecting some squeals, laughter, splashing..... nope, not this kid. She acted as if she had been in water her whole life. Well- I suppose she was in water most of her life. She acclimated immediately and was very relaxed about the whole thing. She really does live up to her sign, Pisces, the fish.
After swimming, we had made a delicious dinner. We decided to go the non traditional route and forgo burgers and dogs. We made broiled salmon, roasted cauliflower, and Brittany and Jeff brought an amazing kale/brussel sprouts salad. We stuffed our faces yet again and then headed off to the 3rd event of the day- a BBQ- to eat some more.
I put Davy in the Sully wrap and she slept most of the time there- she was wiped after our full day of Narventures!
